I was interested in reading on that site Masspirg’s report “Cracks In The Cap: How the “Offsets” Loophole Undermines the Control of Global Warming pollution from Power Plants” about the problems of carbon offset. I read this article on a great blog called Realclimate.org which has a lot of comments and rich discussion about the issue of carbon offset.  Its something that I hear more and more people, particularly wealthy people, talking about as their way to address climate change, and it has always felt like a pretty poor bandaid to me, one that doesn’t address any real root problems, is a kind of no harm no foul hands off passive response…

RealClimate, which is a blog by scientists about the science of Climate Change, has such an active audience, many of whom comment daily, or so it appears from my casual survey of the site… Sometimes 50 comments on a post. I wonder how they created such a committed and regular audience… Its a parallel forum with a more narrow focus than this one… I’ll try to tell them about what we’re doing.
